Leisure Tea & Coffee Review ON Saturday, April 27, 2013 AT 11:13 PM
Its sushicat. During exam period, I went with a friend to Leisure Tea & Coffee. I heard this was a good place for studying but we didn't really get studying done or at all while here (haha).

I like the interior compared to what it looked on the outside. I should've taken a picture of the outside for comparison but outside had windows with a ugly green sign of this place on top. Inside, you see a display of the cups and silverware for tea as well as the snacks. I read from some reviews that they don't like the picture frames of various places in the world on the walls but I think it adds a nice touch. Reminds me of all those fancy cafe I see on the Chinese channels when they have the host go to try out in France or Japan. Also, some reviews said it was dark, maybe they had fixed the lights or something but I didn't think it was as dim as they described.

Both my friend and I got a drink similar to each other (both ~$5.25) but we can't remember exactly what the names and contents of our drink was (sorry!). I'll write down what I can remember.
My drink (on the left), I think was number #150 or something had taro pieces (which I loved and had wish there was more) and red bean. It also had pearls that melted since this was a hot drink and kind of became like jello.
My friend said hers was called Taro Red Bean Soup and it is also hot. She said she also had taro pearls and red beans. She likes how it wasn't as sweet as she had imagined which was pleasant.
I think if you ever had these kind of Chinese sweet red bean style desserts or drinks before then you can get a gist of what it tasted like (lol sorry for this vagueness).

I also got the Spicy Crispy fried chicken (~$7) which I remember I liked a lot because it was crispy but not overdone to the point where the insides were fried as well. The chicken inside was moist and did not have flour. There was the hint of spiciness on the outside.

My friend also  got the Crispy Cookie Ice Cream (~$7) but my phone didn't save it (double sorry!). It contained some fresh fruits of apples, kiwis, strawberries etc., one scoop vanilla ice cream and had chocolate sauce on the ice cream. The ice cream was placed on a cookie waffle shaped like a star with some cream on the sides. My friend says she appreciates the fruits but the ice cream and waffle was nothing spectacular. And from my opinion, for the price I could probably make a better one at home.

Rating
Food: 3/5
Atmosphere: 3/5 I just keep thinking of the shop front and how they should really consider changing it.
Service: 3/5 There was a older lady who was serving us, shes more into speaking mandarin but she can understand English as well. Later on two other younger men came to work who probably speaks Mandarin and English well.
Price: 3/5 I think the waffle ice cream was expensive considering how its made. The drinks were a little expensive too but we enjoyed it. I love my fried chicken and want it again. Our receipt was all in Chinese and we're not that versed in reading Chinese but we deciphered it.

Overall: I do think this is a place is good for studying especially since I went on a weekday night so it wasn't that loud and the tables are big enough to have studying sessions. Considering other reviews, I would try their shaved ice desserts next time.
